Gundicha Temple: Sandhya Darshan & Bahuda Yatra Update

Jagannath Mahaprabhu Sandhya Darshan and Bahuda Yatra notice

This article records the Sandhya Darshan arrangement announced for Friday, July 4, 2025, ahead of the Bahuda Yatra. For Jagannath Mahaprabhu devotees, the key point was that public entry through the Simhadwara (Lion’s Gate) of Shree Gundicha Temple would close from 6:00 PM. The closure was connected to preliminary preparations and the sequence of rituals required before the sacred return journey.

Jagannath Mahaprabhu: July 4 Sandhya Darshan Arrangement

After public entry closed, the scheduled Shodha, or cleansing ritual, of Shree Gundicha Temple was to be performed. The original notice explained that several other important rituals of the Deities would follow. For devotees of Jagannath Mahaprabhu, the temporary restriction therefore formed part of the temple’s ritual arrangements surrounding Sandhya Darshan and Bahuda Yatra.

The notice also stated that devotees would have the blessed opportunity to have Darshan of the Deities aboard the chariots on the day of Bahuda Yatra. In other words, the July 4 evening closure at Gundicha Temple was followed by the next stage of the sacred return journey, when devotees could again behold Jagannath Mahaprabhu and the Deities on their chariots.

Cooperation for the Bahuda Yatra Rituals

Devotees and followers were requested to cooperate with the Sandhya Darshan arrangement so the Lord’s rituals could proceed smoothly. The notice also specifically sought the cooperation and coordination of the servitor associations, or Niyogas. This coordination between temple services and devotees was presented as part of the orderly execution of the scheduled rituals for Jagannath Mahaprabhu.

Archive note: These timings refer specifically to the arrangement announced for July 4, 2025. This article should therefore be read as a record of that year’s Sandhya Darshan and Bahuda Yatra schedule, not as a current closure notice for 2026.
