All Besha Of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu
Kartika Month Beshas at Jagannath Temple
OTHER THAN HIM ARE RELATIVELY TRUE….
The Kartika Masa (month) at the Jagannath Temple in Puri is a period of vibrant celebrations and unique rituals. In addition to the Radha-Damodar Besha, several other captivating Beshas (divine attires) adorn the deities, each with its own significance and story.
Harihara Besha: During the Radha-Damodar Besha, every Monday witnesses the Harihara Besha of Lord Balabhadra. This unique attire depicts Balabhadra as half Vishnu (black) and half Shiva (white), symbolizing the unity of these divine forces.
Bankachuda Besha: Observed on the 12th day of the bright fortnight of Kartika, this Besha is similar to the Lakshmi-Narayana Besha but with the addition of a golden headgear. The word ‘Banka’ means tilted, and ‘chuda’ means hair, symbolizing the tilted hair of the two brothers, Jagannath and Balabhadra.
Adakia Besha: Also known as ‘Tribikram Besha,’ this attire is adorned by the deities on the 13th day of the bright fortnight of Kartika.
