।। Water Confinement at Srimandir ।।
Today, on the auspicious Vaishakha Shukla Paksha Saptami Tithi, the ritual of Jaladhibasa (Water Confinement) is being performed. This ritual is held in preparation for the Jala Abhisheka (Water Consecration) of Mahaprabhu on the upcoming Niladri Mahodaya Ashtami Tithi.
Today, after the completion of the night Chandan Lagi (Sandalwood Paste Application) ritual at Srimandir, the Bhogamandapa (offering hall) is cleaned and washed, and a canopy is tied. The 108 pots of water provided by the Parba Jatra Jogania (festival provision suppliers) and Kotha Bhoga Pania (storehouse offering water suppliers) are kept in the Bhogamandapa. After the Sandhya Dhupa (evening offering), the 108 pots of water are placed in the Bhogamandapa, and sandalwood paste, camphor, white fragrant flowers, dayana (a fragrant plant), tulsi (holy basil), etc., are mixed into it. Following this, the Puja Panda Samanta (priest) performs the Jaladhibasa by reciting mantras, offering flowers and sandalwood paste. The Tadau Karana (temple administrator) closes and seals the doorways, and the Lenka Paika (temple guard) keeps watch. Subsequently, other rituals will be performed. On this day, the Shayana Thakura (sleeping deity) is not brought out in procession.
