।। Ratha Yatra or Ghosha Yatra in Srimandir Part – 3 ।।
Jay Jagannath, Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.
Various Gundicha Yatras are observed in Srimandir. These are:-
(1) Shakta Gundicha
(2) Saura Gundicha
(3) Shaiva Gundicha
(4) Shri Gundicha
(3) Shaiva Gundicha :- The ‘Shaiva Gundicha’ ritual (niti) is observed on the sacred Chaitra Shukla Ashtami tithi (8th day of the bright fortnight of the Chaitra month). The Mahajana servitors take Shri Lokanath Mahadev from the Bhandara Ghara (storehouse) to the Aishaneshwara Mahadev temple. After this, Shri Lokanath is again seated in a palanquin and taken in procession (Bije Karājāe) to the Jagannath Ballabha Matha (monastery). There, after rituals like Bhoga (food offering), Bandapana (worship), Ashokakalika Manohi (offering of Ashoka buds), etc., are completed for Shri Lokanath, He is taken back in the return procession (Bahuda Bije) and installed back in the Bhandara Ghara.
(4) Shri Gundicha Yatra or Ratha Yatra or Ghosha Yatra :- Mahaprabhu’s world-famous Shri Gundicha Yatra takes place annually from Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya (2nd day of the bright fortnight of Ashadha) until Ashadha Shukla Trayodashi (13th day of the bright fortnight of Ashadha) (Niladri Bije – the final return to the temple).
